Map data acknowledgements

Wild Things combines mapping from a number of fantastic organisations to provide a richer picture of the great outdoors.

Features such as topographic maps, LiDAR, public access areas, and other map overlays rely on data generously made available by government agencies and public organisations. Rather than reinventing the wheel, we're able to build on these high-quality datasets to help you better plan and enjoy your adventures.

Our New Zealand topographic maps and LiDAR overlays use data made available by Toitū Te Whenua Land Information New Zealand (LINZ).

LINZ provides a huge range of open geospatial datasets that make detailed mapping like this possible.

Public Access overlay data is provided by Herenga ā Nuku Aotearoa – the Outdoor Access Commission.

The data is made available under the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 New Zealand (CC BY 3.0 NZ) licence.

Public access information is provided as a guide only and may not always reflect current conditions or legal access on the ground. Always confirm access where appropriate and respect private property, temporary closures and local restrictions.

Wild Things also incorporates mapping and geographic data from a range of other organisations, including government agencies and mapping providers in Australia and elsewhere.
