Why VIP Membership Matters

Edited

Wild Things has always been about community — discovering trails, sharing stories, and helping adventures happen. But behind every map, tool, and listing are real costs: servers, development, updates, and the countless hours it takes to keep everything accurate and inspiring.

VIP Membership is what makes all of this possible. It’s not about locking people out — it’s about making sure Wild Things can thrive, sustainably, for the long run.

Here’s how access works across membership types:

  • Free access within limits — you can browse and enjoy plenty of Trail & Peak listings without paying a cent.

  • Fair to contributors — any trail or peak you submit is always free for you. Same goes for partner event listings.

  • VIP Memberships — cover the running costs and unlock unlimited directory views, plus all the other good stuff: advanced filters, challenges, leaderboards, discounts, and more.

And here’s the reality: just like no supermarket can give away its shelves for free, no one can walk into your work and expect what you do for nothing. This is our work, our business, and our passion. Membership is how we keep it alive for everyone.

That’s why we have a paywall — or as we prefer to call it, a fair membership model that keeps Wild Things sustainable.

If you choose to become a VIP, you’re not only unlocking extra features for yourself — you’re helping keep Wild Things running, fresh, and inspiring for the whole community.
